Time: 10:00 a.m. Location: Milford Community Center Using photos, documents, maps, and realia, “The Cow War: Farmer Rebellions in America’s Heartland during the Great Depression” illustrates related yet differing agrarian rebellions during the 1930s that mirrored rural folks’ desperate attempts to survive. “The Cow War” details when Iowa dairy farmers blocked Federal Agents from TB-testing their herds. Michael Luick-Thrams divides his time between Germany and the American heartland. He serves as an Executive Director of a non-profit, educational organization in each country. Michael is currently completing a 60 venue, four state, five week speaking tour called “Historian Histories, Taboo Topics” (Early 20th Century Iowa Social History Programs). There is no registration and no cost to attend this program. This program is provided by the Friends of the Milford Memorial Library, Spirit Lake Public Library, and the Arnolds Park Public Library.
