        My fiancee and I are looking for a place to stay over Memorial Day weekend after our wedding (Saturday & Sunday night). He would like to stay right on the water, but The Inn's honeymoon suite is already booked. We don't have a huge budget, but would like something nice. Any recommendations? Thanks!

         Just a suggestion but you might try the Shamrock Inn in Spirit Lake. Rooms aren't bad and it seemed that the prices were pretty reasonable. Also you can use all the facilities at The Inn for free.

        I don't know if you have a preference as to which lake you want to stay on but the Kingman Place is nice. It is on Big Spirit. Check out www.kingmanplace.com. The Wild Rose (wildroseresort.com) is not on the lake but has beautiful rooms and is nicely landscaped. Have friends who stayed there and highly recommended it. Another off-lake option would be Okoboji Country Inn (okobojicountryinn.com) It is a remodeled old farmhouse with a very nice gift shop located on the grounds. Very nice mother/daughter owners. Hope you can find something you like!

        Of course Okoboji is "fun and exciting", but aren't we entitled to a break once in awhile? Sheesh! There are other sites. Go see if they suit your fancy.

        I happen to be part of the "we". What other sites do "we" have? Explore Okoboji? Ya right. This guestbook used to be the to go-to place last time i clicked on it.

No to you!=)

        It might have been the "go to place", but it also became full of vitriol and nonsense. The nasty's have been weeded out, or at least I thought they had. There are some others. Google Okoboji and see what you get. As for Explore Okoboji, that's good for local news, not mindless chat. They ended their "guestbook" also due to nasty's. Try to have an upbeat day.
