Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 11:05 AM Congratulations to the Spirit of Harmony Chorus on their 4th place in the International Harmony Classic at San Antonio, Texas on July 19th. The chorus sings acapella four part barbershop harmony. Be sure to see their fall show Nov. 15th at the Lakes Art Center. The chorus is always looking for real women to have real fun singing real harmony.

Have you taken them up to the Fish Hatchery in Orleans (between Big Spirit and East Okoboji) to see the displays? If they aren't busy, you might even be able to talk to one of their fisheries biologists. Don't know if they have posters, but they have lots of literature available and even give tours. Although the best time of the year to do that is in the spring, it's interesting any time.

Does anyone know if you can tour the Polaris plant? I read about group tours in the Vacation Okoboji magazine but we would not be a group. Figured next year will let hubby decide more of what we do since he took me on the roller coaster at Arnold's Park this year, and won me two little ponies at a game there...plus humored me with the Maritime Museum! A great time was had by all...nine glorious days, three of them camping at Gull Point and another six at Village West...I think I am FINALLY done peeling! Sadly we didn't get to Mineral City this time around. Can't wait to do it all again next summer!

AS I RODE BACK FROM THE RITZ,AND BACK TO MINNESOTA,THE DRIVE IN WAS PLAYING LAST NIGHT ABOUT 10 ISH,AND I SAW MAYBE 10 CARS THERE....LOOKS LIKE FUN TO ME!!! ****ALSO TO THE PERSON WHO HAS TO CORRECT COOL RIDERS SPELLING IN THE QUESTION THEY ASKED,WHY BE A ASS? I was up in AP on August 4th, my first time back there in over 8 years. Great to see the Nutty Bar still at the park, but the apartment complexes just to the east of the parking lot threw me for a loop. Also talked to my old boss at Godfather's in the park, who recognized me from when I lived up in Spirit in 1995-96. I was wondering if any of the resorts on West Lake (Blue Lake and others) rent out cabins by the week instead of by the month or season?

Friday, August 22, 2008 at 12:54 PM I went to Chopper Central last weekend and listen to the band there. Not sure the name of the band but they were very loud and the lead singer seemed way out there. What ever happened to the great bands Okoboji used to have? Now anyone can play in the lakes area. All you need to do is play a guitar, scream a couple of notes and you’re in!
